McMoRan Exploration Co., up $4.81 at $14

The oil exploration company announced a significant discovery at one of its wells in the Gulf of Mexico.

UPS Inc., up $2.65 at $62.82

The world’s largest shipping carrier announced it will eliminate about 1,800 jobs and raised its fourth-quarter outlook.

McAfee Inc., up 83 cents at $40.72

UBS upgraded the software maker, saying concerns over margins and Hewlett-Packard Co.’s acquisition of a competitor are “overblown.”

Peabody Energy Corp., down $2.10 at $48.76

A subsidiary spent more than $1 million during the third quarter to lobby Congress on issues related to the coal industry.

Abercrombie & Fitch Co., down $1.10 at $32.48

An analyst issued a downbeat report and lowered her estimates for the clothing retailer’s fourth-quarter and full-year profit.

K-Tron International Inc., up $34.77 at $148.29

Hospital bed and casket maker Hillenbrand Inc. agreed to buy the manufacturer of industrial feeders and pneumatic conveyers for $433 million in cash.

Tuesday Morning Corp., up 99 cents at $4.02
