FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — State Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer says three businesses have formed a statewide distribution network for Kentucky Proud products.

Farmer says the network involves Critchfield Meats of Lexington, Brown Foodservice of Louisa and Southern Foods of Bowling Green. He says the network could have a big economic impact for Kentucky farmers.

Kentucky Proud is a marketing program aimed at promoting local products.

The state Department of Agriculture says ValuMarket of Louisville launched a line of Kentucky Proud beef obtained through the network last week as part of the grand re-opening of its Outer Loop store.

Plans are for the network to expand into many other Kentucky Proud products.
