PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A gun collector who introduced several weapons into sexual play with two other men contends the fatal shooting of one of them in Maine last spring was an accident.

The trial has shed light on a dungeon in a South Portland home filled with sex toys that three men used as a drug-fueled escape from reality.

Assistant Attorney General Lisa Marchese (mahr-KAY’-zee) told jurors the focus should be on the handling of the gun — not the sexual acts in the victim’s basement. She says it was the responsibility of defendant Bruce Lavallee-Davidson to make sure the gun wasn’t loaded while handling it.

The 50-year-old Lavallee-Davidson is charged with manslaughter in the death of Fred Wilson last April. He could face up 30 years in prison if convicted.

Closing arguments are anticipated Wednesday.
