Clinton, Giuliani will make stops in Massachusetts

The city will be at the center of the national political storm building around the outcome of Tuesday’s special U.S. Senate election today as former President Bill Clinton headlines a key political rally at WPI for Democrat Martha Coakley.

While Mr. Clinton will be trying to find the words to help Ms. Coakley head off an apparent surge in the polls by state Sen. Scott Brown, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani is set to stump for Mr. Brown in Boston’s North end to bolster the Republican’s tough-on-terrorism campaign pitch.

Plans for those high-profile appearances meanwhile have also heightened speculation that President Barack Obama, who yesterday offered a video message seeking support for Ms. Coakley, might come to Massachusetts to help the Coakley campaign this weekend
