Moderate earthquake rattles eastern Venezuela

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — A moderate earthquake has shaken eastern Venezuela. Officials say there are no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 5.6 and was centered 25 miles (40 kilometers) west of Carupano, Venezuela.

Venezuelan seismological agency chief Francisco Garces tells state television that Friday’s quake was felt in the eastern states of Sucre and Anzoategui.
