NEW YORK (AP) — A Russian diplomat says officials from six key powers did not reach any agreement on imposing new sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov says the group of six powers wants to meet again with the Iranians to discuss a proposal made in October that Tehran exchange uranium for nuclear fuel.

The U.S. was pushing for new sanctions against Iran at Saturday’s meeting at the European Union headquarters in New York. Officials from China, Britain, France and Germany also took part in the meeting.

Ryabkov says Russia believes there is “still time for meaningful political engagement” with the Iranians to find a solution to the dispute over its nuclear program.
