UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. says the body of Haiti mission chief Hedi Annabi has been found in the rubble of its headquarters in Port-au-Prince, which collapsed in the earthquake.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the bodies of Annabi’s deputy, Luiz Carlos da Costa, and the acting police commissioner, Doug Coates, have also been found.

The U.N. chief said in a statement Saturday that Annabi, a Tunisian diplomat, was “a true citizen of the world” and “an icon of U.N. peacekeeping.”

Da Costa, from Brazil, was also “a legend in U.N. peacekeeping operations,” he said.

Coates, a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, was a long-serving member of the international law enforcement community, Ban said.
