Here's what you missed if you weren't watching MSNBC during Senator Scott Brown's victory speech, which you weren't

Keith Olbermann was able to put up with about 10 minutes of that “irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex-nude model, teabagging supporter of violence against women and against politicians with whom he disagrees.” Then he had enough, and this happened:

“Before we get to the chowder recipes of the family, we’re gonna take a pause to discuss this.”

Chowder. Get it? Because Brown is now the Senator from Massachusetts. As Coakley would have been if she had won, of course. And let there be no doubt that Mr. Olbermann would’ve cut away from her victory speech and insulted all of her constituents in a grim-faced fit of pique. He’s impartial. He’s a newsman.

So. Olby “paused” in the middle of the victor’s speech. How long was that “pause”? It lasted for the rest of Brown’s remarks. Instead, here’s what greeted MSNBC viewers who tuned in during the speech to watch the, um, news:

And more words like dat. Not that we don’t love Arianna Huffington, proprietor of the left wing’s answer to The Daily Caller, but how many people were really interested in seeing her at that particular moment? Guess we’ll have to watch for last night’s ratings. (Update: Ouch.)

For a sportscaster, Keith Olbermann sure isn’t much of a sport.
