Florida’s unemployment rate continued to edge up in December, reaching 11.8 percent, up 0.3 percentage points from November and up 4.2 percentage points from a year earlier. It’s the highest since May 1975, when it was 11.9 percent, according to the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation.
That represents a little more than 1 million Floridians who are out of work, out of a labor force of 9.1 million.
The national unemployment rate is 10 percent.
