Colts QB Peyton Manning proudly accepted the Lamar Hunt Trophy for the second time after defeating the Jets 30-17 on Sunday.
Much was made of Manning’s unwillingness to say nearly anything of note in the week leading up to the game. At the same time, Jets coach Rex Ryan was brashly boasting how confident he was in his team. At one point, Ryan said he would be “shocked” if the Colts won.
Consider what Manning said at a mid-field podium after the game: “We were very humble this week. I think we just kept our mouths shut and went to work.”
