At an issues conference of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee this morning, President Obama implored Democratic leaders to focus their energies more on the voters and less on television appearances. “Everybody turn off your CNN… turn off your FOX… your MSNBC,” he said at the Newseum, just down the street from Capitol Hill. “Get out of the echo chamber.”

The president emphasized the importance of staying the course on health care: “We’ve got to finish the job even though it’s hard.”

Media critics over at the Los Angeles Times have questioned why CNN aired the entire address, along with a question-and-answer session, while Fox News opted to show regular programming and commercials during the period.
