A 26-year-old man who was erroneously released from a downtown Baltimore prison Thursday has been captured in West Virginia by city police, according to authorities.

Raymond Thomas Taylor, who was serving three consecutive life sentences for shooting his ex-girlfriend and her two daughters in 2004, was taken into custody Friday in Martinsburg, W.Va., said Rick Binetti, a spokesman for Maryland’s prison system. Baltimore police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said members of the Warrant Apprehension Task Force, which includes city police officers and Maryland state troopers, tracked Taylor to the home of one of his childhood friends on Whitman Avenue in Martinsburg. Taylor surrendered peacefully, according to Guglielmi.
