Hotline On Call reported Thursday that “Many GOP operatives view RNC chairman Michael Steele as more of a burden to his party than a benefit, according to the latest National Journal Political Insiders Poll.”

Of those polled, 71 percent said that Steele is a liability and only 20 percent called him an asset, while 9 percent were too jaded to give a crap. Also according to Hotline, few poll respondents could manage to say anything genuinely positive about Steele, and instead spoke about the RNC chairman as if he were a car with obscenely high mileage but–BUT!–a really good air conditioner that works most of the time: “Congressional minorities need some guerrilla-style unpredictability. Steele just brings extra,” one respondent said.
