Contessa Brewer: Not just a pretty face

She’s got a great body too!

Here she is on Stephanie Miller’s radio show today, talking about Times Square wannabomber Faisal Shahzad:

“The thing is, is that, and I get frustrated, and I was… there was part of me that was hoping this was not going to be anybody with ties to any kind of Islamic country, because there are a lot of people who want to use terrorist intent to justify writing off people who believe in a certain way or come from certain countries or whose skin color is a certain way. I mean, they’re, they use it as justification for really outdated bigotry. And so there was part of me that was really hoping this would not be the case, that… [portion even more unintelligible than the rest of it] And again, he’s accused, he’s arrested, you know, I don’t want to convict him before it’s time to do so. He’s the guy authorities say is involved. But that being said, we know, even in recent history, you have the Hutaree militia from Michigan, who had planned to, let’s face it, create terror. That’s what they were planning to do. And they were doing so from far different backgrounds than what this guy is coming from. So the threat is not just coming from people that decide that America is the place to be and come here and want to become citizens. And obviously this guy did.”

It’s difficult to discern meaning from this, to say the least, but it seems to boil down to: “Yeah, well, those teabaggers are bad too!” She doesn’t like that the culprit is Islamic because it’s politically incorrect. Whereas a lot of people don’t like the attempt to blow people up in the first place. They’re more concerned with who’s doing it, and why, than with whose feelings might be hurt by gaining that knowledge.

But not everybody has the same priorities.

P.S. Shahzad almost got out of the country. Ed Morrissey wants to know why they didn’t update the No-Fly List, but they must not have had time. Hell, they didn’t even have time to tell Bloomberg about the guy. Poor Bloomy. He goes on the CBS Evening News and says, “Hey, maybe it was a teabagger,” and 10 minutes later they pull the creep off a flight to Dubai. But it could’ve been worse. Bloomberg could’ve said it in public.

P.P.S. DrewM says: “Yes, we need to get past the outdated bigotry of thinking, ‘My God, what have they (some Muslim) blown up now?’ and move on to the new and approved bigotry of attacking people who have the temerity to not fall in line with Obama’s political agenda. Won’t some racist teabager please step up and kill someone so Contessa won’t be so frustrated?” And Drew also points out that the whole Hutaree angle has been taking a beating lately.

P.P.P.S. Contessa explains it all on Facebook: “I’m getting flak for expressing disappointment during a radio intvw, that the NYC bomb suspect has links to Pakistan. I wasn’t hoping the suspect would be of a particular nationality, race, or religion. Instead, I worry ppl will use this to justify racism & religious bigotry. Mayor Bloomberg is concerned enough to say: I want to make clear we will not tolerate bias or backlash against Pakistani or Muslim New Yorkers.” Nope, the only allowable bias or backlash is against teabaggers.
