A Riverdale, Md., funeral home had its license suspended after a surprise inspection found an estimated 40 bodies in bags stacked in a garage, officials said.

The bodies, many of them medical school cadavers, were awaiting cremation at the Chambers Funeral Home, which was allowed to complete the cremations and has until Friday to finish other funeral arrangements and then is to be closed, The Baltimore Sun reported Wednesday.

The body bags were found stacked haphazardly April 26 in a garage that houses the crematorium, and some of the bags were leaking and had lost their identification tags, the inspector’s report said.
