In a weary groan that barely cleaved for words, Rudi Adolph Koos, 80, admitted Wednesday that a life in which he once took up arms for the Third Reich also included the kitchen-floor strangulation of his longtime wife.

The guilty plea to third-degree murder for the slaying of Waltraud “Trudi” Koos will likely send him to prison for at least five years, attorneys said.
