An Indiana Census worker has been arrested for the rape and assault of a physically handicapped girl. Daniel Miller, a volunteer worker for the U.S. Census was going through Pekin, Indiana asking questions of residents for the survey last Tuesday. Apparently on Saturday, at 4:30 a.m., Miller returned while heavily intoxicated and broke into one of the houses along his Census route.

While breaking into the home, he assaulted and raped a 21-year-old, physically handicapped girl, living with her mother. After the attack, Miller left some of his clothing behind. Reports indicate that prior to the assault, the accused had been drinking heavily. Miller is a tile-layer, has two daughters, and has been married for 13 years.

“There’s no way to describe what I think about a person like that,” said Debbie Bishop, the neighbor of the victim. “It’s not even thinkable. There’s no way a person like her should be treated like that. It gives me chill bumps thinking about it.”

Miller is being held without bond at the county jail.
