MIAMI — A Miami couple faced a judge Friday, accused of forcing their daughter to sleep outside for eight years.
Philipe Mathieu, 62, and Sherrine Mathieu, 42, each face 863 counts of child neglect.
According to court records, prosecutors said the number of child neglect counts signifies every night the girl was forced to eat, sleep and use the bathroom outside. In bond court, the state prosecutor said the child, now 16, had not been allowed inside the house since she was 8 years old.
