Toronto police are investigating after a body was found encased in concrete inside a steel drum in Lake Ontario on Sunday.
Det. Justin Vander Heyden of the Toronto Police Homicide Squad said the body is likely that of a murder victim.
“At this point I have a good idea of who’s in the barrel but I’m not at liberty to speculate. It would be irresponsible at this point,” he said on Sunday.
Det. Vander Heyden said that police received a tip that led them to the water near a construction site on Queen’s Quay.
Police divers found the rusty barrel in about six metres of water.
