In a press conference Wednesday afternoon, U.S. coach Bob Bradley announced the final 23 players who will travel to Johannesburg, South Africa for the World Cup. Last night’s friendly match against the Czech Republic was Bradley’s last chance to evaluate his players before narrowing the pool of 30 players down to 23, ESPN reports.

Some of Bradley’s choices were predictable – goalkeeper Tim Howard, midfielder Landon Donovan, and captain defender Carlos Bocanegra were shoe-ins. The more controversial decisions included midfielder DaMarcus Beasley, who hasn’t seen much playing team for the National Team since making a costly mistake at the 2009 Confederations Cup, and defender Oguchi Onyewu, who is still recovering from a knee injury.
