ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A woman who was attacked at a retirement home in North Carolina has died from her injuries.

Multiple media outlets reported that 80-year-old Margaret Jones Cable died Tuesday at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Police Capt. Tim Splain says officers found Cable in the lobby of a retirement center in Asheville late Monday afternoon.

Investigators have charged 63-year-old Rebecca Ruth Krueger with assault inflicting serious injury.

Splain says Krueger pushed Cable into a post and doorway, causing internal head injuries.

Residents told investigators there had been a dispute among some residents, but it didn’t appear Cable was involved. Splain says it appears Cable was trying to leave when she was pushed.

Krueger was being held in jail but it was unclear if she had an attorney.
