Community colleges turn away 140K students

California’s community colleges turned away an estimated 140,000 students during the 2009-10 academic year because of budget cuts.

California Community Colleges chancellor Jack Scott and other community college leaders announced the figure Wednesday in a news media update in Sacramento on the impact of budget cuts on the system.
