From ‘I won’ to ‘I whine’

Politico’s Roger Simon talked to Obama, and the following words came out of Obama’s mouth:

“I think it’s fair to say, if six months ago, before this spill had happened, I had gone up to Congress and I had said we need to crack down a lot harder on oil companies and we need to spend more money on technology to respond in case of a catastrophic spill, there are folks up there, who will not be named, who would have said this is classic, big-government overregulation and wasteful spending.”

Byron York’s headline sums it up: “Obama: GOP to blame for spill, because if I had tried to prevent it, which I didn’t, they would have stopped me.” It’s no longer enough to blame the Republicans for what they did or didn’t do in real life. Now they’re to blame for what they would’ve done or not done in some sort of dreamworld where Obama actually attempted to govern. Just like Obama hasn’t talked to the CEO of BP because, well, you know what those running-dog capitalist pigs are like.

Stop picking on him. It’s not his fault. Don’t you know how hard he’s working? Don’t you know he went down there and stood out in the rain? What’s he supposed to do, suck it up with a straw? He’s not Superman, you kn–

Er… never mind.
