The Prince, who is about to begin training to become an Apache helicopter pilot, said he would “love” to serve his country like “any other soldier”.
No decision will be taken on whether the Prince will go back to the front line until he is qualified to fly the two-seater attack helicopters, but the Prince has left no doubt about his own intentions.
Speaking to ABC’s Good Morning America, he said: “I would love to go back, I really would. As long as my military career allows it and politically it’s allowed, then I will serve my country as any other soldier.
