The “dummy” whose supporters Dale Peterson, former Alabama “ag commish” candidate and YouTube sensation, accused of stealing yard signs has a razor-thin lead heading into Tuesday’s Republican run-off, according to a newly released poll.

Thursday’s poll show agricultural commissioner candidate Dorman Grace bringing in 28 percent of the vote to 27 percent for John McMillan, who was endorsed by Peterson, in the Public Strategy Associates poll.

Peterson became a star with his choppy, John Wayne style video that included an accusation that Grace’s supporters were stealing his campaign signs. But in the June primary, Peterson failed to win a spot in the upcoming primary.

Peterson has not hidden his discontent for Grace, who he called ““rotten to the core,” in an interview with The Daily Caller shortly after his loss.

Also on Tuesday in Alabama, Republicans Bradley Byrne and Robert Bentley will face each other in the gubernatorial run-off. The same Public Strategy Associates poll shows Bentley, who scored an upset by even making it into the run-off, leading 53 percent to Byrne’s 33 percent.

Bu the campaign of Byrne, who finished first in June’s primary and has been viewed throughout the race as the frontrunner, is claiming to have the momentum with a string of big name endorsements this week and internal polling showing him in the lead.

Also, columnist Quin Hillyer reported Friday that Republican Gov. Bob Riley, who has not offered an endorsement in the race but has largely been seen as pro-Byrne, admitted that he will vote for Byrne.
