LAS VEGAS (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican Sharron Angle are raising money at a nearly equal clip in Nevada’s Senate race, but the senator holds a big edge in the bank.
Reid raised $2.4 million toward his re-election between April and June, while tea party favorite Angle was close behind with $2.3 million.
Angle’s campaign has seen a surge in financial support since emerging about broke from the June primary.
Records released Thursday show Reid is spending nearly $1 million a month — that’s more than he’s taking in. But he has a balance of about $9 million in the bank. Angle has about $1.8 million on hand.
Reid will need to raise an average of more than $44,000 a day to reach his goal of $25 million.
