This morning Pastor Rick Warren tweeted that he had suffered a horrific eye injury, was hospitalized for it on Monday, is now home recovering and hopes to regain his sight. For those who follow him on Twitter, and are used to getting scripture quotes from the Saddleback Church pastor, it was alarming to say the least.
But Pastor Rick, as he is known to his followers, is on the mend they’ll be happy to know. According to Larry Ross, his spokesperson, Warren is expected to make a full recovery.
It all started this weekend, when Warren was pruning the shrubs in his yard in Mission Viejo, California. He is known to unwind by gardening. After finishing up for the day he wiped his brow and the sap from a poisonous firestick plant seeped into his eyes.
The pain, Ross says, was excruciating and immediate. His wife called 911 and he was rushed to Mission Hospital, where he was treated overnight.
Back at home now, he has to wear protective contacts, but should recover completely.
