Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, has asked the US supreme court to halt a class-action lawsuit, which alleges the company systematically discriminated against female workers.
The company is appealing an April court ruling which authorised the class-action litigation on behalf of an estimated 1.5 million women workers.
The women say the company practised widespread discrimination in its pay and promotion practices.
