The Huffington Post has editorial standards, apparently

Who knew? Here’s what you see when you click this link at Arianna’s place, from former Air America editor-in-chief Beau Friedlander:

Editor’s Note: This piece was published directly to the Huffington Post by its author. It didn’t meet our editorial standards and has been removed from the site.

Wow, it must have been really good! Newsbusters caught it before they took it down, and you might still be able to read the cached version here. Friedlander throws in all your favorites: Halliburton, Rupert Murdoch, neocons, war for oil, “if you disagree with me you’re a racist,” etc. Nothing out of the ordinary over there. But it looks like one thing in particular made HuffPo think twice:

$100,000 For Glenn Beck’s Sex Tape

Rupert Murdoch and the Koch brothers are happy to throw money at the rising tide of right wing lunacy. Breitbart offered $100,000 for JournoList, the email listserve that brought down WaPo blogger Dave Weigel this June…

It is time to pop the tea baggers’ favorite balloon (so what if it will be replaced by another?), and with that in mind I hereby offer to negotiate a $100,000 payday to the person who will come forward with a sex tape or phone records or anything else that succeeds in removing Glenn Beck from the public eye forever. I am not offering the cash myself, but I will broker the deal and/or raise the money for what you bring to the table. (And it better be good.)

If you have the goods, or if you want to contribute to a slush fund to buy more takedowns (probably not tax deductible), please contact me at: glennbecksextape@gmail.com.

That’s worse than anything else HuffPo has ever published? Huh. Well, if a Glenn Beck sex tape ever surfaces (which I believe was predicted by Nostradamus), one thing’s for sure: it’ll be overwhelmingly white.

P.S. I’m told that Beck mentioned Friedlander’s post on his radio show this morning. That might have factored into HuffPo’s editorial decision-making…

P.P.S. Doug Powers says:

“I’m gonna make ’em an offer I can’t afford.” Not exactly The Godfather, is he?

A liberal who wants to buy something and use somebody else’s money to do it? Gee, you never see that. Why did the HuffPo delete an article by a guy who is simply living up to a major plank in the Democrat platform?

P.P.P.S. Friedlander apologizes, pretty much.
