Ryder Cup 2010: Charles charms the Ryder Cup birdies

There were plenty of birdies to be seen as Prince Charles opened the Ryder Cup in Wales yesterday.

But few of them were to be found on the putting green.

The 61-year-old heir to the throne seemed charmed by the glamorous wives and girlfriends of the American team as he welcomed them to a formal dinner.

They were certainly dressed to the nines for the dinner at Cardiff Castle and seemed equally thrilled to come face to face with a real-life prince.

They joined guest of honour Prince Charles at the event as well as Tiger Woods, who braved the event despite being one of the few bachelors on the golfing set.

But the European WAGs had no intention of being outdone.
