WATERFORD — In a bizarre twist of a prostitution arrest, a Troy man told police he was paid $35 and a winning lottery ticket after agreeing to let another man perform a sex act on him, an official said Wednesday.

John J.G. Trotter, 22, of Third Avenue gave town police the cash and the scratch-off ticket, which is worth $5, after turning himself in late Tuesday afternoon, Waterford Police Commissioner John Tanchak said.

Trotter, who arrived at the police station on his bicycle, was charged with a low-level count of prostitution, a Class B misdemeanor. Under the law, “a person is guilty of prostitution when (that) person agrees or offers to engage in sexual conduct with another person for a fee,” Tanchak said, citing the law.
