While it is tempting to think we’re being punk’d by the tweets and stories about Ashton Kutcher reviving his celebrity spoofing series “Punk’d” — with teen superstar Justin Bieber as his replacement — it seems this is totally true.
While MTV is not officially saying anything yet, a longtime honcho at the network tells me this is a “go.”
Though there are some questions in the MTV corporate suites about whether Bieber has the staying power or strong enough comedic chops to pull off the “Punk’d” hosting gig, “Ashton thinks he’s perfect and is the guy to pull in the younger, target demographic the show will need,” said the MTV insider.
The show, expected to launch early next year, will revive the franchise Kutcher made famous — fooling all kinds of stars during its original 2003-07 run.
