Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell has raised nearly $4 million since winning the Republican primary last month, The Daily Caller has learned. That’s an average of about $1 million a week.
O’Donnell aides are still finalizing their Federal Election Commission filing for the third quarter, but a spokesman says the campaign will report close to $3 million raised in the second half of September. The Tea Party-backed candidate defeated Republican Rep. Mike Castle in the Delaware GOP primary on Sept. 14 and is now facing Democrat Chris Coons.
The information released by the campaign indicates that O’Donnell has raised about $1 million in October. That means she likely already surpassed her stated October fundraising goal by the time she sent out an appeal for donations early on Wednesday.
“1 Trillion dollars. That’s how much we’ll see our taxes raised if our opponent, Chris Coons, is elected to the U.S. Senate,” an email sent to supporters said. “That’s why during October our campaign is trying to raise $1 Million to save $1 Trillion in new taxes.”
