Sean Bielat is running for Congress in Massachusetts’ 4th District. He is an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, a former lieutenant in the U.S. Marines, an independent consultant, and he has served as chairman of the NATO Industrial Armaments Group. He is running against Democratic Rep. Barney Frank.

S.E. Cupp (SE) : What’s the worst thing you’ve eaten on the campaign trail?

Sean Bielat (SB): A salty Turkish yogurt drink.

SE: You’re put in charge of national unemployment. What do you do?

SB: Immediate reduction in income tax withholding and immediate reduction in corporate tax withholding. Issue a holiday on new business regulations so employers have a horizon in which to make investments in a stable business environment.

SE: What’s your favorite work of fiction, and why?

SB: “The Master and Commander” series, all 21 books…because boats and battles are cool. And because they are historically accurate, you learn a lot and the characters are terrific.

SE: You can sing any karaoke song and kill it. Which one do you pick?

SB: “Sweet Home Alabama” (no Alabama is not my home…it’s just a great tune)

SE: Politicians are much maligned in America right now. If you want some love, why not go into the NFL or hip hop?

SB: The rising price of gold makes acquiring enough bling to do hip hop too expensive, and I lost interest in the NFL once they started cracking down on end-zone celebrations.

SE: Who would you want to play you in a movie?

SB: David Hasselhoff (kidding).

SE: Your house is going up in flames and you can save one (non-living) thing. What is it?

SB: Wedding album…and my Marine Corps First Commission to Second Lieutenant.  That’s two, but they’re close to each other on the shelf.

SE: If you can make one promise to voters, what would it be?

SB: Not to make a career out of this.
