American hikers detained by Iran inside Iraq, Wikileaks doc reveals

The three American hikers, two of whom are still being held in Iran, were actually picked up in Iraq, according to a U.S. military report released by Wikileaks.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange says, “The GPS coordinates on those reports have them clearly inside the border of Iraq. Maybe those GPS coordinates are not accurate, but they are records that were made at the time so this is clearly not a case of the U.S. fabricating where those people were.”

The coordinates the military listed in its report put hikers Shane Bauer, Josh Fattal and Sarah Shourd a couple miles from the border, but in Iraq, when they were taken. Shourd was released on bail, for medical reasons, in September. The others remain in jail.

A former Iranian diplomat claims to have heard the same thing.
