After 10 months in Walter Reed Army Medical Center, former U.S. Sen. Bob Dole is looking forward to his next trip to his native Kansas.

The 87-year-old Dole spoke from his home Friday in Washington, D.C., after having spent part of the day in his office with the law firm of Alstin and Bird where he is special counsel. He also spends part of his days in physical therapy for his new knee.

When he entered Walter Reed it was for the knee surgery following a fall, but his stay was extended as he contracted pneumonia three times.

He was released from Walter Reed a week ago.

Although his voice is a little weaker than his usual strong baritone, he said he feels pretty good.
