Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), the incoming chairman of the House Budget Committee, shed some light Tuesday morning on the relationship between outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the rank-and-file members of the Republican caucus, a relationship that seems minimal at best.

“She just doesn’t talk to most Republicans,” Ryan said. “I’m not making a statement one way or the other. Only that she’s really sort of an us-against-them kind of a person. She sees us as enemies, I guess you could say.”

Ryan added that he has almost never spoken to Pelosi during his 12 years in the House.

“I had a 30-second conversation with her about six years ago about her kids,” Ryan said. “It’s the only conversation I’ve ever had with her.”

Although his communications with Pelosi have been minimal, Ryan told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he does speak with Steny Hoyer, the Democrats’ second-in-command in the House.
