.) West Virginia’s Sen. Jay Rockefeller wishes the Bill of Rights didn’t include the first one — If his brief appearance during a hearing on retransmission yesterday is any indication, the coal dust is starting to cloud Sen. Jay Rockefeller’s mind. “We need new catalysts for quality news and entertainment programming,” Rockefeller said during a subcommittee meeting led by Sen. John Kerry. “There’s a little bug inside of me which wants the FCC to say to Fox and to MSNBC, ‘Out. Off. End. Good-bye.’ It’d be a big favor to political discourse, our ability to do our work here in Congress and to the American people to be able to talk with each other and have some faith in their government and more importantly in their future.”

.) Senate Democrats praise head of federal fondlers agency — Yesterday’s Senate hearing on the TSA’s junk-grabbing/pecker-measuring security protocols provided Democrats with the opportunity to prove once and for all that they hate basic freedoms, such as the unenumerated right to not be molested by a high school dropout before boarding a red eye flight to Topeka. “Mr. Pistole, you’re doing a great job,” Fascist Sen. Jay Rockefeller told TSA chief John Pistole. “I have been a fan of the advanced imaging technology,” Sen. Amy Klobuchar interjected. Americans “have to understand that this is being done for their best interests and their safety.” CNET’s Declan McCullagh reported that committee Republicans offered “only modest criticism,” which, let’s face it, is better than the authoritarian knob-slobbing that Democrats have been reduced to. Meanwhile, in the People’s Chamber, Rep. Ron Paul introduced the American Traveler Dignity Act, which seeks “to protect Americans from physical and emotional abuse by federal Transportation Security Administration employees conducting screenings at the nation’s airports.”

.) George Soros jumps off the S.S. Obama — “At a private meeting on Tuesday afternoon, George Soros, a longtime supporter of progressive causes, voiced blunt criticism of the Obama administration, going so far as to suggest that Democratic donors direct their support somewhere other than the president,” reports the Huffington Post. “According to multiple sources with knowledge of his remarks, Soros told those in attendance that he is ‘used to fighting losing battles but doesn’t like to lose without fighting.'” The one-time currency trader turned turned bank-roller of crackpot lefty groups then groused, “If this president can’t do what we need, it is time to start looking somewhere else.” Does this mean that Soros will bring his much-praised Eastern Block coup program to the U.S.? You will never know until it is too late.

.) Department of Transportation was just kidding about using lasers to destroy your cell phone — On Monday, Transportation Secretary and Republican turncoat Ray LaHood told MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough that his department is considering banning cell phones in cars, and exploring technology that could forcibly block cell phone signals. On Wednesday, a DOT spokesperson attempted to clean up her boss’s mess. “While NHTSA is currently researching various technologies, Secretary LaHood believes first and foremost that everyone has a personal responsibility to drive safely,” DOT spokeswoman Olivia Alair told The Daily Caller’s Jeff Winkler. “The Department of Transportation currently has no plans to endorse any particular technology.” Winkler writes that it’s probably for the best. “The technology LaHood seemed to endorse on MSNBC not only encounters general technical difficulties and raises serious questions of government intrusion, but even correctional facilities couldn’t convince regulation bodies — like the FCC — to allow phone jamming.” If the government won’t jam the cell phones of criminals, surely it has to give a pass to scofflaws, too?

.) Loony professors captured on camera — Curious as to what your kids are learning during their $50k-per-annum reality-delaying experiment, AKA college? Youtube will tell you! “Faculty members at Cornell University, Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge and the University of Central Florida have all seen pieces of their lectures go viral in the last several weeks,” reports Inside Higher Ed. “Taken collectively, the carefully edited clips play up familiar stereotypes about faculty: there’s the quick-tempered bore (Cornell), the liberal indoctrinator (Louisiana State) and the lazy test-recycler (Central Florida).” IHE suggests that the college gotcha video is a budding genre, and that hack editing jobs will undoubtedly get as much attention as raw footage of professorial mayhem. Will these videos cause academics to self-censor, AKA think before they lecture young impressionable minds? Maybe!

.) Virginia eco-freak farm busted for treating animals like garbage — Organic farm operations are supposedly the guilt-driven agriculture model of the future. And, after watching videos of poor animals kept in tiny cages and forced to pop out critters like gumball machines, who wouldn’t want to give organic a chance? One farm in Virginia has apparently pulled the wool over Washington’s eyes. Black Eagle Farm, a producer in rural Virginia popular with D.C. fine-dining establishments, “was found to have violated animal-care statutes and that lost its organic and humane certifications,” reports TBD. “Last December, a Virginia state veterinary inspector found that many of the animals at the Nelson County farm were emaciated and in need of veterinary care; the farm’s working dogs ate raw meat rather than appropriate food; and one hen house contained eight chicken carcasses.” Never trust a hippie. That is the lesson here.
