Fiji Water is in a standoff with the South Pacific country’s military government.

The bottled-drink company said Monday it is closing operations on the island that is the source of the company’s name and sole product, citing a huge tax increase. The company also said it would cancel orders from suppliers and place several pending construction contracts on hold.

The announcement might not be final. The company said it is “willing to work through” the issue with the Fiji government and prefers to continue operating in the country. And the government attempted to impose a similar tax on all bottlers two years ago before backing down.
