Rep. Maxine Waters plans to bring a privileged resolution to the floor that calls for an independent investigation of the House ethics committee.
Waters (D-Calif.) has accused the ethics panel of having a weak case against her after it called off her trial last month, citing the discovery of new evidence.
A draft resolution obtained by CNN asks the House Speaker to “appoint a bipartisan task force to investigate the circumstances and cause of the decision” to place two committee lawyers on administrative leave following missteps made in the investigation.
