Did anyone see that coming?

Fox News’ Glenn Beck has hired former Huffington Post CEO Betsy Morgan to head up his online news website, The Blaze, causing many to wonder why Morgan has shifted from one end of the political blogosphere to the other.

But Morgan claims her decision to serve as president of The Blaze just a little over a year after working at the Huffington Post was not politically motived.

“I am a very apolitical person,” Morgan said in a New York Times piece. “I’m a business person, who is absolutely fascinated by brands…Glenn has built for himself quite an enormous brand.”

Morgan also expressed an interest in “expanding the team and developing businesses around topical content in all areas that engage audiences and drive a healthy national debate” in her new professional endeavor.

When Beck launched the site in August 2010, he indicated in a blog post that his site’s focus would be on reporting and news coverage rather than ideology.

“We want this to be a place where you can find breaking news, original reporting, insightful opinions and engaging videos about the stories that matter most,” Beck wrote.

During Morgan’s time as CEO of the Huffington Post, the website grew from 4 million to 22 million unique visitors and doubled its ad revenue , as well as raised $25 million in new funding.
