Authorities found a man bound and unconscious with “the bloody remains of one of his ears dangling from his head” inside the trunk of a BMW yesterday, NY Daily News reports.  Cops came across the grisly discovery while investigating a hit-and-run accident in Manhattan.

When officials investigated the abandoned vehicle, they noticed what looked like a bullet hole on the trunk of the car.  When they opened it, they discovered a man tied up and unconscious. He suffered a gun shot wound to the head, his ear was detached from his body, and his neck was broken. Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Cops believe the victim is in fact the owner of the BMW, and was likely injured and confined in either a carjacking or drug-related dispute. The victim may owe his life to the slick, wintry road conditions, which allowed emergency personnel to discover him.
