Speaking at an 11 a.m. roll-out event, News Corp. chief Rupert Murdoch introduced the world to his latest innovation: a subscription-based iPad news service called The Daily.
“The iPad demands that we completely reimagine our craft,” said Murdoch.
Perhaps the biggest question surrounding The Daily’s release has been on pricing. Murdoch announced that the publication will be available at a rate of 99 cents a week, or $39.95 a year.
A demonstration of the touch-based features, including news customization, “hot spot” information expansion, videos, 360-degree in-story photos and tilt-function accommodation, followed Murdoch’s announcement.
The Daily becomes publicly available at noon on Tuesday.
