CAIRO (AP) — Egypt’s soccer league has been suspended until a “return of stability” to the nation.

Protesters have stepped up their campaign to oust President Hosni Mubarak after a nearly 30-year authoritarian reign. The decision to suspend all soccer in the country was made by the Egyptian Football Association.

Last week, the 16th round of the league season was postponed because of anti-government protests in Cairo and other cities. On Monday, the United States canceled an exhibition game in Cairo that had been scheduled for Feb. 9.
