Could a Donald Trump presidency work?

A day after his address at CPAC in Washington on Thursday, the so-called father of the Tea Party movement, CNBC’s Rick Santelli weighed in on the idea. In an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Santelli explained that Trump would bring a unique perspective to the White House.

“I don’t know if he has a shot, but it would be nice to have somebody leading the country that makes millions rather than spends billions,” Santelli said.

The CME Group floor reporter didn’t outright endorse Trump, but noted he may have some expertise in a bad economy.

“I think capitalism has done well for this country,” he said. “It’s created lots of jobs. We have a pretty high standard of living all things considered – even with some of the slowdowns. Yes, I think it would be interesting. I’m not sure he’s the exact person, but I think he has qualities with regard to leadership in an economy that’s struggling, I think he brings things to the table.”
