Comedian Kathy Griffin has publicly blasted the Palin family numerous times, so it’s unsurprising that she’s set to guest star as a Palin-inspired character on an episode of Glee.

TVLine reports that Griffin will portray a homeschooled Tea Party candidate named Jean.

Glee creator Ryan Murphy admits that the Fox show has been a frequent critic of right-wing politics.

“We’ve taken a couple jabs at the right wing this year,” Murphy told TV Guide back in June. “So what I want to do with this character is have someone who Christian kids and parents can recognize and say, ‘Oh, look — I’m represented there, too!’ If we’re trying to form a world of inclusiveness, we’ve got to include that point of view as well.”

At the end of last year, Griffin said during her stand-up act at the USO Diva’s Salute that Bristol Palin had a weight problem.

“[Bristol Palin] is the only contestant in the history of [Dancing with the Stars] to actually gain weight,” Griffin said, followed by a chorus of boos from soldiers.

In 2009, Kathy Griffin justified calling Trig Palin a “retarded baby” via Twitter:

“When I say her ‘retarded baby’, I’m quoting HER! Sarah Palin said it about her youngest. Jeez, don’t you guys watch ‘The Insider’?? XO, K.”

At the beginning of 2011, Griffin said it was time to pick on a new Palin: 16-year-old Willow.

“I think it’s Willow’s year to go down,” Griffin told the Hollywood Reporter. “In 2011 I want to offend a new Palin.”

Earlier this month, Bristol told E! Online that Griffin has a “weird hate” for the Palin family.

“She has a weird hate for our family, just like her coming to Alaska and knocking on our front door,” Bristol said. “And it’s weird, also, that she would pick on my weight. She’s had botched liposuction procedures and stuff like that, so… It’s just weird that she would pick on something like that for another woman… I think she would just not be an enjoyable individual to be around at all.”
