While Washington celebrated Bush ’41 on Monday, Tuesday saw a different, more stylish gala as Lauren Bush, model and eco-friendly designer, was honored at a party for Capital File magazine.

Dressed in a black dress and carrying a FEED bag, the granddaughter of George H. W. Bush and niece of George W. Bush was honored for her humanitarian efforts through both her FEED projects and green fashion line, Lauren Pierce. A model, her step into the design world began in 2005, when she originally thought of the now famous FEED bag, a sack benefiting the UN World Food Programme School Feeding operation. From there, she moved to a full fledged clothing line, which debuted in 2009. The spring collection featured a collaboration with the Women for Women International, an organization which teaches women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo how to hand-dye fabrics.

At Monday’s event, Lauren told POLITICO she has always admired her grandfather for “leading through example,” and there is no doubt she hopes the country will catch on to her eco-friendly, humanitarian trend.

Always looking extending the effort, FEED bags were sold at Tuesday’s event at The Collection at Chevy Chase.
