The recent devastation in Japan has brought celebrities together to do their part. At the forefront are those in the music industry, with Universal Music Group announcement that they would be releasing a digital only compilation album with the label’s biggest stars to benefit relief efforts.

Lady Gaga, U2, Bon Jovi Nicki Minaj and Rihanna are all expected to lend their vocals for to the collection, waving their royalties so 100% of proceeds go to Red Cross Japan.

17-year old teen sensation Justin Bieber will also participate, tweeting, “Japan is one of my favorite places on earth. It’s an incredible culture with amazing people. My prayers go out to them. We all need to help, by being one of the first on board for the project.”

The digital collection is just one of the ways celebrities are contributing to the cause. Just hours after the earthquake hit, Lady Gaga tweeted she had designed a special prayer bracelet. Just two days later, proceeds from the bracelet totaled $250,000, as she tweeted, “Monsters: in just 48 hrs you’ve raised a quarter of a million dollars for Japan Relief.”

A spokesman for Universal expects the album to be released later this week.
