A British movie project has landed an American star to play one of the country’s most iconic presidents.

A report by New York Magazine’s Vulture blog says comedy legend Bill Murray has agreed to portray Franklin D. Roosevelt in “Hyde Park on the Hudson,” an adaptation of a British radio play. The story recounts Roosevelt’s alleged affair with his distant cousin Margaret Stuckley, set during the June 1939 weekend that British royalty visited his Hudson River estate.

The movie, which starts shooting in July, looks to feature Murray in a rare serious role. The actor won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar for his part in 2003’s “Lost in Translation.”
