Arnold Schwarzenegger, the body builder-turned-movie star-turned politician, is taking on a new role: cartoon superhero.

Entertainment Weekly reported that comic book legend Stan Lee will create a character modeled on Schwarzenegger called “The Governator.” The superhero will not only appear in a comic book form, but in as an animated television show as well.

“When I ran for governor back in 2003 and I started hearing people talking about ‘the Governator,’ I though the word was so cool,” the former California governor told Entertainment Weekly. “The word ‘Governator’ combined two worlds: the world of politics and the movie world. And [this cartoon] brings everything together.”

The series will also feature characteristics from his career, including a group of super-villains called the Gangsters Imposters Racketeers Liars & Irredeemable Ex-Cons, or G.I.R.L.I.E. Men.

The animated character, who will above all be a family man, is set to be released in time for the 2012 elections.
